About Me

The Most Beautiful Places I’ve seen:
Welcome to Kim’s History Travel!
Hello! My name is Kim, and I’m the history buff behind Kim’s History Travel.
I started this site in 2020 with the goal of helping people discover more of the world’s most incredible historic sites.
But don’t expect a simple list of places to see. I’ll give you a ton of interesting facts and tips for visiting yourself. I genuinely believe that the more you study and learn about a place before you visit, the more you get out of it.
I think of it like this: “The more you know about what you are looking at – the more you’ll enjoy it!”
Here’s a little about where I’ve been and what you’ll find on Kim’s History Travel!
Historical Sites
Over the years, I’ve been able to visit the original sites of six ancient empires, and now I want to share those places with you. So, I write extensively about how to visit these sites in modern-day Egypt, Greece, Italy, Israel, and Turkey.
My curiosity has also brought me to exciting places in Western Europe, such as London, Paris, and Rome. I especially enjoyed visiting Stonehenge, the Tower of London, and the Louvre.
I am an American who grew up near San Francisco. I have seen a lot of the world, but I also love exploring the U.S.
I found the history of St. Augustine (the first U.S. Colony fascinating), and I have spent several weeks in Washington D.C., including 10 full days at the Smithsonian Museums.
You’ll also find biographies of some of history’s most influential people, like Emperor Constantine and his mother, Helena!

Christian Destinations
As a devout Christian, I particularly love visiting biblical sites and other places significant to church history. These places have allowed the Bible to come to life in a new way for me, and I continue to deepen my faith each time I return.
I’ve taken multiple trips to the Holy Land (Israel), which included some of the most important destinations, such as Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Nazareth, and the Sea of Galilee.
But that’s not where I stopped.
I’ve even ventured out of Israel to Egypt, Turkey, and Greece to see some lesser-known biblical sites. These include Paul’s jails in both Philippi and Rome, the tombs of Jesus’ disciples, the ancient city of Ephesus, and 5 of the 7 cities listed in the Book of Revelation.
U.S. National Parks
I’m a certified “National Park Geek.“
I’ve been to 16 national parks. Like most people, my goal is to make it to all 63!
The most breathtaking one so far was Bryce Canyon National Park. But I also loved seeing the 1,000-year-old Sequoias in California, the Florida Everglades, and ancient rock formations in Pinnacles National Park.
While writing about these parks, I focus a lot on the scenic drives, visitor centers, and easy hiking trails. So, if you’re not in the best shape, you can rest easy knowing I won’t recommend a 10-mile mountain summit!
My Animal Website
In addition to being a history lover, I am also a HUGE animal lover. Whenever I travel, I try to include a few visits to local animal rescues and sanctuaries.
I’ve also been heavily involved in animal rescue since 2010.
If you’d like to know more, visit Mama Kim’s Animal Rescue, where I talk about animal rescues around the world, interesting animal facts, and where to see animals while you travel!
